Some Detainees Are Drugged For Deportation

www.washingtonpost.com

The U.S. government has injected hundreds of foreigners it has deported with dangerous psychotropic drugs against their will to keep them sedated during the trip back to their home country, according to medical records, internal documents and interviews with people who have been drugged.

The government's forced use of antipsychotic drugs, in people who have no history of mental illness, includes dozens of cases in which the "pre-flight cocktail," as a document calls it, had such a potent effect that federal guards needed a wheelchair to move the slumped deportee onto an airplane.

Is this really neccassary? If the deportees resist, isn't there a better way to 'sedate' them without injecting potientially dangerous drugs into their system?

Edit- Ah. Someone posted this several hours before me.

Sorry, should've searched first.

Its obscene is what it is... no where in the article does it say that the people are terrorists or are any danger whatsoever... just that they are deportees.

I remember when I was little me and my family were on the border line coming back from Tijuana. There was a guy who looked white, but with f---ed up clothes and everything. He was telling us that they (the government) beat him brutally and injected him with some liquid. My parents ignored him and rolled up the windows. They thought he was one of those crazy homeless guys who just want money to buy more drugs. But I saw the sorrow in his eyes, the poor dude had scars on his head.
