WELLINGTON, Apr. 10, 2008 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) -- Air New Zealand said Thursday it would seek compensation from Boeing (NYSE:BA) Co. after the U.S. plane maker announced another delay in delivery of the new 787 Dreamliner.
Australia's Qantas Airways also announced it wanted compensation while Japan's All Nippon Airways, the launch customer for Boeing's latest challenge to European rival Airbus, said it was considering a similar request.
Boeing 787 launch customer All Nippon Airways (ANA) is expressing clear frustration with the manufacturer over the latest delays to the new twinjet programme and is complaining publicly that it has yet to receive a detailed delivery schedule
“We are extremely disappointed,” Star Alliance member ANA says in a statement.
“This is the third delay in the delivery of the first aircraft, and we still have no details about the full delivery schedule. We would urge Boeing to provide us with a 120% definitive schedule as soon as possible.”
