WELLINGTON, Apr. 10, 2008 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) -- Air New Zealand said Thursday it would seek compensation from Boeing (NYSE:BA) Co. after the U.S. plane maker announced another delay in delivery of the new 787 Dreamliner.

Australia's Qantas Airways also announced it wanted compensation while Japan's All Nippon Airways, the launch customer for Boeing's latest challenge to European rival Airbus, said it was considering a similar request.

other articles are now talking about cancellation orders because of this - BA , one of boeings biggest customers have ordered Airbus for the first time in its history (the A320`s were aquired from caledonian when they were bought out)

Boeing 787 launch customer All Nippon Airways (ANA) is expressing clear frustration with the manufacturer over the latest delays to the new twinjet programme and is complaining publicly that it has yet to receive a detailed delivery schedule

“We are extremely disappointed,” Star Alliance member ANA says in a statement.

“This is the third delay in the delivery of the first aircraft, and we still have no details about the full delivery schedule. We would urge Boeing to provide us with a 120% definitive schedule as soon as possible.”

ANA is the launch customer - and they really are not happy with the stonewalling from boeing.

BA ordered over a hundred A320 family aircraft from Airbus direct in 1998, so the recent A380 order was not their first Airbus order.

Yes, when they first acquired B.Cal it was expected that BA would dispose of the A320's they inherited in favour of more 737's which were their preferred option at the time. They liked them so much they not only kept them but ordered loads more.

But still, if they hadn't got them from B.Cal in the first place...........?
