Iran has developed an electro-optical surveillance system as part of a campaign to stand its ground against Western pressure.
The electro-optical equipment could act as a viable alternative where radar fails to cover a particular range.
Massoud Tabibian, head of the project, added that the system is comprised of night-vision sensors and laser range finders capable of effective operation under extreme weather conditions.
Tabibian described accuracy, high stability in turbulent water, and a resistant frame as other distinguishing characteristics of the system.
Furthermore, the electro-optical component, which has ground-based and naval-based reconnaissance and surveillance applications, is non-detectable by radar during electronic warfare.
