The latest issue of ARCHAOLOGY magazine has an extremely interesting article about Nefertiti, a Queen of Egypt who may or may not have been King
Tut's mother. The article is written by Earl L. Ertman. The article itself is titled "Nefertiti's Eyes" and can be accessed by either reading the
magazine itself or by accessing the website at www.archaology.org.
On February 5th, 2006, several people from an expedition entered a tomb called KV-63. This, according to the article, was the first time anyone has
entered a new toomb since tomb KV-62 (King Tut's) was entered back in 1922. While no mummies were found, other material was found that suggests that
Nefertiti's eyes may have become a symbol of the Egyptian Dynasty that her and King Tut were a part of. In the article, they surmise that since
Nefertiti's mummy was not found there, that King Tut may have had her mummy disintered and reburied elsewhere when he moved his capitol.
At the very end of the article, there is listed another website where anyone who is interested in following the happenings during the 2008 season at
KV-63 can follow. The web address is www.kv-63.com
I hope this information proves useful to at least some members of ATS.
