This isn't really a rant, but I couldn't think where else to put it.

Canadians Seem Quite British

or is it just me.

With all due respect for the esteemed US members, I just find that canadians seem to be a bit closer to my way of thinking than most US members.

I do detect a certain British quality about them - or maybe it's just that the qualities they have as a nation are more closely intertwined to the perception I have of my country.

This is not to say that US members do not have the same qualities - but they seem to express them differently.

Two nations separated by a common language.

Well Budski, I suppose it depends on ones upbringing as well.
Iam Canadian, of English , Irish, and Scottish Heritage.
My mother was raised by her aunt,a very proper English lady who was big on politeness and manners.I find many of us to be that way. However,I also have found many Americans to be that way as well.
Keeping in mind that we are still to some extent a British Colony of a sort.
Yep I opened a can of worms with that one.Tis true.
There is a large photo of the Queen herself in every post office and court office that I have seen as well as a few government offices. She does grace our money as well.True to our heritage I suppose Budski.

Canada - too British for the Americans and too American for the British.

I think it's from the shared history. We never went through that period of rebellion, so we didn't feel a need to throw away all things British.

And yet the ozzies and new zealanders I've met are not that way at all.

Strange really, but there you go.

Canadians are people who follow strict rules of morality within Canada and watch our neibors' leaders go apshae against respect for other Nations.

Seems simple enough.
