Both bills allow retired and current state judges who have carry concealed weapon (CCW) permits to possess a gun in gun-free zones, such as schools, day care facilities, sports stadiums and arenas, bars, restaurants, places of worship, college dorms, classrooms, hospitals, casinos, entertainment facilities that hold more than 2,500 people, and courts. Call me crazy, but, these are "gun-free" zones, right? So why would any government personnel need to be armed in a "gun-free" zone?

Surely if we've learned anything from VA Tech, the Nebraska mall shooting or the church shootings or nearly any and all multiple shooting I can remember without flipping through the scrapbook is that "gun-free" zones are peaceful places free of the threat of violent crime, right?

This bill doesn't think so. Or at least this bill says that should there be the threat of violent crime in a "gun-free" zone ONLY government personnel should be able to defend themselves.

I'm going to go pull some hair out now. What little is left anyway.

There should be a bill banning "GUN FREE ZONES"

Is a Gun Free Zone even constitutional, does this not infringe on the beloved 2nd amendment?

Bars I can understand, as it is illegal and dangerous to possess a firearm while intoxicated, but anywhere else should be "open season" on the bad guy attempting to shoot up the place.

"GUN FREE ZONE" = Sure Mr. Criminal come on in and do your evil deeds, no one can stop you.
