There are many theories about that would occur in the event
that the government decides to disclose the existence of Aliens.
Most cite economic collapse, the destruction of organized religion,
and the total breakdown of society as we know it,
and thus, most people, such as John Lear,
argue AGAINST disclosure.
Of course, if Aliens do exist (as I believe they obviously do)
then they, not the government, hold the trump card,
and can override any policy with a single mass landing during
rush hour.
But what if disclosure had the opposite effect?
What if disclosure brought MEANING to millions of boring lives,
and in fact augmented faith in a higher power? What if life on
other planets made life on Earth more bearable, by somehow putting
life itself into some sort of relativistic perspective?
I think disclosure of Aliens would be the ULTIMATE ANTIDEPRESSANT.
What do you think?
