I found it while the land was being cleared to build my house. There are no other rock of its type in the area. There are only patches of white rocks and these clay type rocks. I did find a few arrow heads made out of the white rock in the general area I found this thing. There is a river about 3 miles away where rocks like it can be found. I guess whoever dropped it back then had to come in by river, because back then they would hve had to traveled through miles and miles of deep woods to get to where I found this. I think that it is a fishing weight or heating stone!?!? It is about the size of my hand. Any ideas? It was found in Irmo, SC.. Three miles from the Broad River

It is a weight , probably meant to be used on a net. I have found many of them inland as they are made near wherever suitable stone is found.
