The heat of the desert sun was beating down on Professor Forest. He was wiping the sweat from his mostly bald head. His age was beginning to catch up to him. What little hair he had left was in a pony tail and stuffed under a cap. He could no longer spend countless hours in the still heat of Egypt's deserts. He tired quickly, and spent more time studying maps and ancient text.

He spent most of his life trying to unlock the secrets of the Egyptians technology. The marvels they created, centuries before there time. 40 years of his life spent fruitless and mostly in vain. He was tired and ageing. He never married and had no children. Just years and years of digging in the sand. He had always wished he had fathered an heir to his legacy, but that time had long past and there was nothing left but regret.

His current dig site was about 5 miles north east of the Valley of The Dead. A new site believed to be part of the old kingdom. He was rummaging through some old papers and found a small amount of evidence of an ancient construction site. The site was never finished and until now mostly undiscovered. The site was dated between five and six thousand years B.C.

As he sat in his tent, shaded from the sun, studying some old maps. He heard shouting from one of the junior team members.

" I think ive found some thing!" "Professor Forest, I’ve found something!"

Dr. Forest rose to his feet as quick as he could, to see what the commotion was about. As he crested a sand dune, a glimmer from the sand was all he could see. The object reflected the sun so brightly you could not look directly at it.

His heart began to race. Had his life’s work finally paid off? Was this the break he had been looking for? He quickly put out the order that all team members were to focus on this area and reveal what was hiding all those thousands of years.

As the hours went by, the anxiety was building in his chest so fiercely, he thought it would explode.

Slowly a larger metallic disc started to emerge from the depths of time. The object was nearly a hundred meters long and 30 wide. Its outer surface was a bright silver. The shell of it was almost indescribable. It was smooth and appeared to be one piece. There were no rivets or welds. No seams or breaks. No one on the site had ever seen anything like it.

He knew this was a find of a life time. The excitement was overwhelming. He felt as if he were six years old and it was Christmas. When any one tuched the disc, it seemed to react almost as if it were alive.

As they began to lift the disc from the hole. Dr. Forest noticed a large dust cloud approaching from the east. As the cloud drew closer, trucks could be made out. He could not imagine who it could be, he hadn’t told anyone about the find yet. He hadn’t even had time to.

When the vehicles finally reached the dig site, it was obvious who had come to share the discovery.

The military had quickly surrounded the site. There were about fifty armed men. A jeep pulled up to the middle of the site, there were two soldiers in the front and the brass was riding in the rear.

General Amahd, stepped out and started barking orders to his troops. With in minutes the entire camp was ransacked. Papers, maps, personal belonging, everything was being piled in front of the camp.

The soldiers then began to round up Dr. Forest's team. They were being herded over to one of the pits at the edge of the dig site. There was little resistance from the dig team. Dr. Forbes instructed every one to cooperate.

As they neared the pit. A small black puff of smoke started to emerge from the camp site. Three soldiers had stayed behind to burn every thing. This started some commotion from the site workers, but it quickly subsided when a soldier fired several rounds from an ak-47 into the air.

Dr. Forest began to speak, but was quickly silenced by the general.

"Dr. Forbes," He began,” Our government could not thank you enough. We have been monitoring your work for quite some time now. I assure you your discovery will not be in vain. However it is a shame you and your team will not be able to enjoy it."

"What is the meaning of this?" the Dr. screamed. "How dare you come in here and round us up like cattle, burn our things and threaten us!"

" Well doctor it would seem that you have stumbled onto something of great importance to our government. We do thank you, but we can not allow such information to get to the public. If you know what I mean."

The general then turned his back, and walked away. As he retreated back to his jeep, gun fire echoed from the dunes of the desert. All evidence of the dig team and site was buried in the sands, lost for all times.

Well i kept it short, but never the less i hope you enjoyed it...
