Been reading this en.wikipedia.org... book called "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins. Some incredible stats:

-40$ billion could provide: clean water, adequate diets, sanitation services and basic education to every person on this planet!

-1998 U.N. Development Program estimated that it would cost additional 12$ billion: reproductive health services for all women worldwide!

-9$ billion for clean water and sanitation services

-13$ billion for food AND health care

-6$ billion for education

...most info from John Robbins "Diet for a New America" and "Food Revolution" www.foodrevolution.org... (2003)... footnotes in book

These are staggering, sickening stats. END THE MIDDLE EAST WARS AND HEAL THE WORLD --- please pass message on / / / /

Money do not provide anything, only ability to create energy provides anything.

By turning living energy into dead capital, vampiric parasites in capitalist appendix of production base is opening up for turning Earth into Ghost Planet. That is plan of ENTROPY, which is pro-chaos and anti-WORM.

By burning flag, you do not make change.

Democratic party is as rotten as Republican party. Whole US constitutional system is rotten system for flies devouring human creativity. Time to burn it down and start again.

Why is this A US conspiracy?

What about the EU? They can front the 40 billion eh? Throwing cash at these kinds of problems has never seemed to provide any long term solution.

You make a fine point about the HEADLINE but it's too late to switch. Trying to get the stats on population to assume it's the U.S. more then Europe should one have to put it in a list. Either way it is the remaining First Worlds' responsibility.

Also, I disagree about "throwing cash" at problems when there isn't any other solution to the issues outlined above. Especially in places like Africa where disease is killing most of the population there. Furthermore, Russia is having declining population rates which isn't good for any society.

Lastly, "a cyborg" are you an actual cyborg or.... ???

What kind of numbers are you presenting?

Is that a per year cost? Or is that giving every perosn on earth water/food/bacis education for just one day.

A totla of $40 billion! Thats about $10 a person, and that is going to provide Food, water, medical costs, and education? For how long, mabye this $40 billions is the cost per hour to keep this fantasy world going.

And whats with your disalutioned fantasy that if there is no war in the middle east, then everyone is healed? There was no war in the Middle east when President BJ was in the office, and this didn't happen...

Also, why is it upon the US to play the providor to the world, it is not our place, we have poured over 500 Billion into Iraq, and not much is happening.

The US needs to take a look inwward, a drastic change in our internation policy must happen, we must get our country back in line, the rest of the world be dammed, it is not our problem what is going on in Africa.

To the last post, I imagine a UNITED NATIONS study isn't going to estimate a number like this for one day, don't be insane and what's w/ the negative attitudes about this?

Also, "your disillusioned fantasy" ?!? A. learn to spell especially when dealing w/ a topic like this and B. Again, this is a U.N. STUDY NOT MINE!

Lastly, to the "devil's advocate" posters, why ISN'T it the U.S. responsibility to do this? Fine, most/all of Europe should pay as well. The point being, we are approaching probably a trillion on a war in Iraq that has killed more U.S. soldiers then citizens killed on S11 and there isn't a real reason to be there besides oil, unless you really want to use "terror war" as a rebuttal, don't bother, what "terrorist" are they 'finding' in Iraq that have such big plans to attack other states? And the infamous WMDs that aren't there.... bottom line -- would you rather spend (finite) money on war or feeding/helping people?!

The government is the terror, like Drug Srs' "war on drugs" and LBJ "war on poverty" -- this is any different? .

Have to mention this, "it is not our problem what is going on in Africa" -- are you this dense? How could the quality of life WORLDWIDE not matter to any nation state? Seriously, think a little more before totally ignorant responses like this.

How else does one institute change? Please, someone answer that. You give me "education" as a reason -- you get the ignore button/switch hit.

The U.S. sets an example for the rest of the world to follow.

No civilization has done so much in so short of time. We have been a country for ONLY 231 years! It's amazing, and it's due to freedom, capitalism, and democracy.

We are a beacon to the world, and it other countries don't see it and copy it, that is their loss.
