Misfires happen with any type of weapon. rifles and machine guns have them regularly.

Unfortunately it gets a bit more exciting when it happens with an anti-armour missile.

Money doesn't guarantee the effectivness of a weapon.

A design is a design.

On topic: Well. When you use a system so much you do get lax and then it can happen that there is an accident.

Lucky enough no one was injured exept some ones ego perhaps.

I agree with the other posts, everything mechanical/ electrical has the potential to malfunction. Its just a question of being (or not being) in the right place at the right time

yeah but I gotta admit. I've had friends over in Iraq deploy those AT-4 with lottsa great hits. THey're little rockets but the hit with a punch. One guy told me the biggest explosion he saw over there was when an AT-4 rocket hit a T-72 cooked off the shells inside it and the whole thing burst in a giant fireball that was about as big as a 500lb bomb.

aside from the one in the video AT-4 work pretty darn well.

if i was shooting a rocket off my shoulder
i would like that rocket to vacate my space in a hurry and the launcher to stay in one bit, not explode at my ear....

accidents happen but
billions spent on weapons and this is what the troops get, damn.............

if i had a rocket resting on my shoulder and right next to my head
i would like it to work the first time

I would laugh If I knew everyone got away safely. The urge is there though!

What humanity does not realize is that we are incapable of making a fail safe system, ever. We can pile system on top of system to reduce it, but all systems can fail. We pass our flaw of imperfection to the things we create. Dumb people act SO surprised when a bridge falls, or a plane crashes, or a shuttle explodes in the sky, DUH! What do they think GOD made it? Bunch of tools...
