More Benefits Denied to the Troops....Running a War on The Cheap.

Can you believe that they are denying the unit with the longest tour of duty in Iraq the benefits of the GI bill because....they are one day short!!

When they came home from Iraq, 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard had been deployed longer than any other ground combat unit. The tour lasted 22 months and had been extended as part of President Bush's surge.

st Lt. Jon Anderson said he never expected to come home to this: A government refusing to pay education benefits he says he should have earned under the GI bill.

"It's pretty much a slap in the face," Anderson said. "I think it was a scheme to save money, personally. I think it was a leadership failure by the senior Washington leadership... once again failing the soldiers."

Anderson's orders, and the orders of 1,161 other Minnesota guard members, were written for 729 days.

Had they been written for 730 days, just one day more, the soldiers would receive those benefits to pay for school.

I'd sure like to know where in the world all the money being spent on this war is going. And this is how they intend to cut the costs?? Cheat the vets out of benefits on stupid little technicalities like this..
add this to the VA hospitals debacle, the fact that our troops we scavaging Iraqi dumps for armor, that the water that has been provided to them was tainted, where in the world has all the money gone to? it seems all the budgetary restraints have been applied to the troops or something. it's sick!

Ask an illegal immigrant (who gets a free ride on the back of US tax payers)how long they served in our military.After all tax us to death ,send most of our troops out of the country and open the borders wide open and steal the carpet right out from under us .

We all know where the money is going, no need to ask, haliburton and all the defense contractors are very handsomely taken care off and occurs their CEOs have plenty of benefit packages to go along with that.

But our soldiers that are the ones risking their lives can not get a GI bill because one day.

Things like this should make any real patriotic American march head first into Washington and make this bozos running our nation learn what it is to work for a living, we elected them for God sake and this is what we are getting.

American soldiers do not need a stinking education they are better for the government the way they are, they do not want an unhappy ex soldier to be the president of this Nation one day.

The goverment is gettin more and more retarted. All they do now is steal money from anything and everybody they can.

actually, I think that was the purpose for using the guardsmen so heavily in the war to begin with...they could manipulate things easier and get out of it cheaper...
