The district has a 30 percent Arabic population. The superintendent says the reason for the change in tradition comes after one parent wanted Ramadan decorations put up inside Columbus Manor Elementary. They were taken down.

Superintendent Tom Smyth said, "I go back to our policy which says that public schools are to remain neutral in this respect."

I have to agree with the superintendent, but the broader issue is the whole political correctness thing.

I am avoiding making it a Christian vs Muslim thing, because I think it goes further than that...we are throwing our "traditional" values out to make sure no one feels offended.
I can understand if this was a high school, but to take away holidays for the younger children all in the name of PC is just wrong thinking.
Our Christmas traditions go back to the beginning of our countries roots, whats next?
