A recent study may give insight into why breast cancer is more deadly for Black women. Past discrepacies have been explained as less access to health care but this new study points to a biological cause.

The study showed that by an almost 2 to 1 ratio black women were found to be "estrogen receptor-negative, or ER-negative" which makes a person more resistant to the disease. While black women are less likely to develop breast cancer, they have a higher rate of mortality from it.

Hmm, very interesting.

It would be neat to see how common, exactly, the ER(-) allele is in different African populations, and see if the incidence of the allele radiates out from Africa. I suspect it probably would.

Unfortunately, any sort of study like that which shows distinct differences between ethnicities would most likely be shouted down by the NAACP et al. It would be nice if we could remove politics from science.
