I am just wondering about something I did once.
Last year, on the 1st August, Me and my parents Climbed Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, at 978 metres high. Nothing so special about
that, IMO.
On the way down it got interesting though. To describe it, have a look at a map from
Ordnance
survey, and put this in the Get a map search text box "NY215072". Now if you can imagine that in reality, with cloud cover giving visibility
of maybe 20 metres, and wind and rain. Perfect conditions really, for getting Hypothermia, but I didn't think of that at the time.
Anyway, using basic navigation with a map and compass, I got us down, and helped two other people down and back to where we started. I don't really
feel it very special, mainly because I had done that sort of thing before, but recent discussions with my mother suggests it was quite special. So I
would quite like some other opinions on it.
