This band, led by Burton Cummings, had their hay day back in the the 70's and its lead singer went on to fame with a number of solo albums that hit
International charts!
Lenny Kravitz even paid tribute to these lads with his re-mix version of:American Woman
You know, I never really knew much about Cummings after The Guess Who.
He really has great vocal control.
Thats probably Why I like the "Laughing" song when I first heard it as a kid.
You can really hear it in the Intro to American Woman, as well.
Great voice, underrated singer..
Here is American Woman, with the intro included.
Cool Intro!
The song is I will play a Rapsody by Burton Cummings.
Lyrics:
VERSE 1:
What will you see?
What will you be?
Anything you want to love is easy
How will you know
If I am for you?
You won't know me to see me
But you'll know by what I do.
CHORUS:
For I.... Will play a rhapsody
Cleverly disguise it, so it's not been heard before
And I.... Will sing a lullaby
Let you know I'm near you through the night to keep you warm.
VERSE 2:
How will you know?
Where you should go?
Anywhere you want to love is fast or love is slow
Falling through feeling
And falling through time
You won't know me to see me
But I'll come to you in rhyme
CHORUS:
For I.... Will play a rhapsody
Cleverly disguise it, so it's not been heard before
And I.... Will sing a lullaby
Let you know I'm near you through the night to keep you warm.
I.... Will play a rhapsody
Cleverly disguise it, so it's not been heard before...
And.. I.... Will sing a lullaby
Let you know I'm near you through the night to keep you warm.
I'll let you know I'm near you through the night to keep you warm.
