With the images of the Virginia Tech shootings fresh in their minds, thousands of parents across the Valley kept their children home from school Friday, the eighth anniversary of the Columbine massacre.

Their anxiety intensified Friday morning as news spread of the probe of five students and an alumnus in connection with a plot to create some kind of disturbance at Desert Mountain High School in north Scottsdale.

I thought that this would not be an isolated effect of the VT shootings and the Columbine anniversary.
