No clue/news as to who's behind it yet. The area still has a lot of pirates in it, so it could simply be high seas piracy. Governments have scrambled and the area is tense.

My brother and his family (Army officer stationed in Korea) and my son (part of the Pacific Fleet) are in the area. Yergh.

Gunmen seize Russian fishing trawler in Sea of Japan

MOSCOW (AP) Gunmen seized a Russian fishing trawler in the Sea of Japan on Tuesday, Russian border police said.

The Federal Border Guards said authorities in both Japan and South Korea had first reported the incident to the Russians.

The Interfax news agency said there were about 20 crew members on the fishing vessel but that there was no known motive for the takeover.

In South Korea, a spokesman at the headquarters of the South Korean coast guard in the port city of Incheon, said he had no information on the report
