So what is going on? Was this the Iraqis, the americans or simply Iran causing trouble?

The US has accused Iran of supporting the Iraqi resistance, so why would the Iraqis kidnap a diplomat of a country that is supposedly helping them?

From the report

On Tuesday, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair accused Iran of "a strategy to create maximum trouble" in the Middle East.

This could of course be true, if Iran is causing this kind of trouble then they really are being stupid.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told the Isna news agency that Mr Sharafi had been kidnapped by a group linked to Iraq's defence ministry "which works under the supervision of American forces".

"The Islamic Republic of Iran holds the American forces in Iraq responsible for the life and safety of the Iranian diplomat," he said.

Great, it's almost like they are trying to start the war. I think Bush would use something like this as a great excuse for making things even worse.

It seems this story has already been created by someone else earlier, mods please delete mine.
