US defense industry workers traveling to Canada have been found to have Canadian coins with tiny transmitters in their pockets.

Canadian coins containing tiny transmitters were found in the pockets of at least three US defense industry workers who visited Canada in recent years, the Defense Department is warning contractors. "On at least three separate occasions between October 2005 and January 2006, cleared defense contractors' employees traveling through Canada have discovered radio frequency transmitters embedded in Canadian coins placed on their persons," the US Defense Security Service said in an unclassified report on its website.

Nothing is safe any more. In the back of my mind there is the thought that this serves both the Imperialist police state with security concern to justify intrusion, and the bankers and tax collectors who all want to get rid of currency, coins in particular.

Sorry bud, there is already a thread about this over HERE. Its simply amazing how much the myth of RFID has spread beyond the truth.

Its thought that these coins may be change recieved in vending machines. The contractors put the bugs in their poskets, go to their meetings and do their secret stuff. They than go back to the vending machines to get another snack, spend the bugs. Someone else collects the bugs when they get the money out of the machine. No need to plant a bug on them when they'll go ahead and willingly stick one in their pocket for you....
