Recently in September, a panel including Former former Vice President Walter F. Mondale, former U.S. Sen. Walter "Dee" Huddleston of Kentucky, and Frederick A.O. Schwarz Jr., chief counsel to the committee were interviewed to discuss it's report on an initial "U.S. Spy Agency" intelligence report that was speculating on the C.I.A., N.S.A., and other goverment agencies that were (and still do to this day) conduct atrocious acts against the american people.

QUOTE:"The Church Committee began its work Jan. 27, 1975, chaired by Sen. Frank Church of Idaho, after a New York Times reporter, Seymour Hersh, revealed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was destabilizing foreign governments and conducting illegal intelligence operations against U.S. citizens. The 11-member committee, which faced great criticism and opposition, was given nine months and a staff of 150 to investigate the nation's intelligence agencies and their activities."

During the investigation, the committee interviewed 800 individuals, and conducted 250 executive and 21 public hearings. Among the Church Committee's 14 submitted reports were such surprising recommendations as barring assassination as a tool of foreign policy and setting limits on the spying of Americans. The committee's two-foot-thick final report issued in 1976 verified the need for continuous surveillance of the intelligence community and resulted in the creation of the Senate's permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

If any of you watched this, can it not be agreed that the ENTIRE panel were sucking up to the current government as they proceeded to present their case against the C.I.A. back in the 70's in a research project that was designed to expose our government agencies that committed illegal and criminal acts against the U.S. population. Although they admitted that operations were carried out to take down Dr. Martin Luther King (he was assinated, duh!!!) and other operations to control and operate with warrantless searches and investigations of the U.S. population and other nations, the ENTIRE panel folded when confronted with questions concearning our current occupation of Iraq, 911, Goverment oversight and responsibility. Question after question, they deferred to the "Lawyer" on the panel to answer questions which was very sickening to me. All that it shows is that even in old age, these once great administrators of U.S. Policy still defer to the Bush administration and are extremely scared to tell the truth as it relates to modern day politics. It is a shame that the people who are responsible for our current laws "STILL" cannot stand up and proclaim on a national stage what exactly is going on. You can tell the entire audience was probably told how to conduct themselves simply because several questions were made and NOT answered correctly. How in the world are we going to change or fix any of the current problems in the United States if we cant even persuade those who are in a position of influence to stand up for us, speak the truth, call people out, and take a stand? We wont, it's a done deal, we are DONE as a nation and all will continue to experience, view, and witness this firsthand as we move into the 20th century. It is absolutely sickening to view our constituents that are fake, lie, and support the war seeking politicians in Washington who control everything that comes out of their mouth. If you look at this show objectively, you can see that the panel was held in check and only spoke of issues that were common knowledge and understood. They even mentioned that they (the C.I.A. and Congress) were out of sync, disorganized, and plotting against one another to keep different depts. from gaining certain information. Does that honestly seem like a surprise considering that they all have different agendas, points of view, and self inflicted political goals? The United States is in a world of # and wont get better any time soon--Wanna leave? No where 2 go....

So would it matter if Gore or Kerry were in office? There were a lot more abuses of government agency power under Clinton if you want to point fingers. What happened as a result of the Church investigations was that Carter immasculated the intelligence capabilities of CIA, by getting rid of most of the HUMINT capabilities, thinking that Spy satellites, etc... would provide all the info needed. The fact remains that you need folks that know folks(sometimes not so nice folks), so they can find out what these not so nice folks are up to. If you're not engaging in illegal behavior(i.e. collaberating with enemy organizations, criminal activities, etc...), you most likely have absolutely nothing to worry about. The Black Helicopters are only looking for people with guilty consciences(and they have lists of whose been naughty or nice, and yes they do check it twice).
