Promising junior cyclist Simon Whitfield (Stockton Wheelers) won his club's latest Thursday night time trial at Longnewton.

Simon's time of 23min 50sec eclipsed runner-up Paul Felce by 10 seconds, with Derek Campbell a further four seconds adrift.

Top juvenile was Jack Rees on 27min 47sec, followed by Zoe Raw and her time of 33min 52sec.

Local rivalries resume on the same course tonight when the club stages a joint promotion with Cleveland Wheelers.

Teesside Cycling Association hosts the final round of its sporting courses series of time trials on Sunday.

A field of 42 riders will give it their best over the 8.7 mile course at Seamer, with the open category going right down to the wire.
