Mariners sticking with Melvin

The Mariners aren't ready to pull the plug on manager Bob Melvin. Despite the Mariners' slow start, Seattle Times columnist Larry Stone writes that Melvin is believed to have the full backing of team management.

Rockies may take chance on Jarvis

Sources told the Rocky Mountain News's Tracy Ringolsby that the Rockies could sign pitcher Kevin Jarvis if he clears waivers. Jarvis was designated for assignment by the Mariners yesterday.

Dodgers could hire McCarty

The Dodgers could hire Red Sox outfielder David McCarty to be their farm director. The Boston Herald's Jeff Horrigan reports that Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta has "sent out feelers" to both McCarty and minor leaguer A.J. Hinch.
