Train Explosion In India Kills Many, page 1

In New Delphi, India today there was a train explosion ripping through two train cars killing 5 and leaving more than 50 injured. Continued efforts to save the people are underway, and investigations have not uncovered anything for the cause of the explosion. The explosion was said to be be very powerful and the causalities will continue to rise over the day.

NEW DELHI, India -- An explosion ripped through train in eastern India on Monday, killing five people and injuring dozens of others, according to news agencies.

The blast occurred around 6.10 p.m. (1240 GMT) near a remote railway station in West Bengal state, about 550 kilometers (345 miles) north of state capital Kolkata (previously known as Calcutta), police said.

"It seems to be a powerful bomb and the casualties could mount in the next few hours," Raj Kanojia, a senior police officer, told Reuters.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.

This is a hard thing to deal with at the moment, there is really no immediate information to judge why, or what could have happened. For the past there has been many attacks by terrorists groups in India, there is no reason to rule out the possibility of another devastating attack on the Indian people.

A main reason there might be speculation of a terrorist attack and not just a malfunction in one of the train compartments is that of the great size of the explosion that ripped the two train cars off the railroad.
