A great leap forward in communications has been made with a translator that reads your lips as you move them silently. This is reminiscent of devices shown on science fiction shows of the past.

Users simply have to silently mouth a word in their own language for it to be translated and read out in another.

The researchers said the effect was like watching a television programme that had been dubbed.

The system, detailed in New Scientist, is not yet fully accurate, but experts said it showed the technology was "within reach".

"The idea is that you can mouth words in English and they will come out in Chinese or another language"

While the technology is far from perfect, this is a big step towards mankinds goal of removing all language barriers. You just put a device in the vicinity of your mouth and you can speak any language!

According to the Book of Genesis, this has been done before. All mankind came together to build a tower to Heaven and challenge God. We've come a long way, or have we? Interesting days ahead that's for sure.
