Mystery ‘Sonic Boom’ over town in Cornwall. UK.

Reports of a loud explosion on the north Cornwall and Devon border are being investigated.

It seems that one avenue for investigation is that a military aircraft has broken the sound barrier a little too close to the land and that has caused this sonic boom and this, in turn, caused some light damage around the north Cornwall area.

They think it may have been a meteor.

A meteor. Well I suppose it could have been. Nice find Irma.

Surely though that would have been more visible than an aircraft, I mean a huge chunk of space rock burning up and nobody seeing it passing thousands of miles over the earth?

And then the boom so close to the land that people heard and felt the effects, I would have thought that the meteor would have been travelling faster than that before it was entering our earth’s atmosphere.

Just my view. Are there any meteor experts here on ATS to clear the matter up?
