The Prophesy of St. Nilus the Myrthstreamer
(1651 A.D.)
[ Home ] [ Up ]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
"After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time of the advent of the antichrist approaches, people's minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonour and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will grow unrecognizable. People's appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, and CHRISTIAN PASTORS, BISHOPS, AND PRIESTS WILL BECOME VIAL MEN, COMPLETELY FAILING TO DISTINGUISH THE RIGHT-HAND WAY FROM THE LEFT. At that time the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds, and murder will rule in society.
At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism, and equally of remorse.

THE CHURCHES OF GOD WILL BE DEPRIVED OF GOD-FEARING AND PIOUS PASTORS, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. They will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of a lightening of their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And this will result from the fact that the antichrist want to be lord over everything and becomes the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs. He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation from one end of the earth to the other. At that time, men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is the deceit of antichrist. And the impious one! - he will so complete science with vanity, that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God. Then God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible ... then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear to kill the perverter."

Interesting but it just sounds like he ripped it all from Mother Shipton.

It doesn't read like something written in the 1600's.

About Saint Nilus (died circa AD 430):
St. Nilus was one of the many disciples and fervent defenders of St. John Chrysostom. He was an officer at the Court of Constantinople, married, with two sons. While St. John Chrysostom was patriarch, before his exile (398-403), he directed Nilus in the study of Scripture and in works of piety. St. Nilus left his wife and one son and took the other, Theodulos, with him to Mt. Sinai to be a monk. The Bishop of Eleusa ordained both St. Nilus and his son to the priesthood. The mother and other son also embraced the religious life in Egypt.

From his monastery at Sinai, St. Nilus was a well-known person throughout the Eastern Church; by his writings and correspondence he played an important part in the history of his time. He was known as a theologian, Biblical scholar and ascetic writer, so people of all kinds, from the emperor down wrote to consult him. His numerous works, including a multitude of letters, consist of denunciations of heresy, paganism, abuses of discipline and crimes, of rules and principles of asceticism, especially maxims about the religious life.

Sorry made a mistake.......with the date of prophecy....i guess looks like mother shipton is in trouble!!!

It's also, as they pointed out, a fake prophecy.

When you get a "prophet" who writes only one prophecy and it concerns YOUR century, it's time to haul out the "skeptic-o-meter." When you get a prophecy that's a rip-off of another faked prophecy (Mother Shipton), it's time to get out your "skeptic-o-meter".

When you get a saint who howls warnings about the 20th century and very conveniently forgets the Middle Ages when the rule of the robber barons was widespread and sex and licentousness (in the church as well as in the secular world) was widespread, when men openly kept mistresses, when there were two classes (the rich and the slaves), when men sinned as they liked and bought penance on Sunday... when a prophet has no problems with behaviors like those and rails against the 20th century (where such practices are frowned on), then you can bet your booties that you've got a Faked Prophecy.

Either that -- or you've got a prophet of a diety who wants to see the humans dragged back to the time when there were only the rich and the serfs (so you who are not rich better start looking for a wealthy person to sell yourself to as a slave); a deity who will excuse a wealthy man who contributes to the deity's temples; a deity who condones land-grabbing and killing off villages and towns in the name of religion. A deity who condemns abortion but approves of babies and children and old people being thrown out on the hillsides to be starved to death and eaten by the wild beasts (yep. common practice then.)

A prophet of a deity who condones all the above... and gets bent out of shape when women cut their hair and wear trousers.

Golly. That's quite a set of ethics.

A little research will show that this "prophecy" didn't exist before 1950.

And finally, according to that "prophecy" the Antichrist should already be here... and about 70 years old. Getting kinda late for him to make a move, eh?

The Future of Islam???

I would like to see what Truth has to say about this:

1) The Islamic movement around the world picks up steam in anticipation of the Imam Mahdi
2) Iran will become stronger and acquire advanced weapons
3) There will be an Islamic Revolution in Iraq and both nations will become allies possibly in combination with Pakistan (who will later invade India)
4)The Imam Mahdi will arise in Mecca when he's 40 years old and the people of Iraq and Syria will come to give their allegiance to him . The government of Iran will also pledge their forces to the Imam Mahdi
5) On seeing this, the ruler of Jordan and possibly Syria will come south to attack the Imam but will be annihilated
6) The forces of the Imam Mahdi will then sweep north from Saudi Arabia and West from Iraq to overrun Syria
7) In Damascus the muslim forces will gather and re-group
8) The West at this time will be in 2 groups. Someone from the progeny of Prophet Aaron (A Levite) will sign a peace treaty with the Imam at the start of his 7 year rule (this will be the 4th such treaty with the muslim world the 1st probably being the current PLO-Israeli sell-out) and this treaty will last for almost 7 years
9) This Roman/European ally of the Imam will join the Imam and together they will conquer an "enemy beyond Rome" as the Prophet PBUH said. Who this is , is anyone's guess but my hunch would be America/Briton.
10) During the 7th year of the Imam's rule a disagreement will arise with this so-called European ally of the Imam and the European ally will join the other Western forces and gather an army to attack the emerging Caliphate
11) The Imam will prepare now to go south-west to the River Jordan and invade Israel to reclaim Jerusalem. Nuclear weapons will start to be employed probably around this point and enormous number of people will die
12) Jerusalem will probably be levelled thus explaining the above hadeeth where it says that the building of the Mosque in Jerusalem will happen before the Antichrist will come
13) The Mahdi's army will be victorious and will take over Jerusalem
14) The Mosque in Jerusalem will be re-built
15) In retaliation the West will attack Medina and will send an army to invade it but a muslim force will oppose them. One third of this muslim force will run away, one third will be martyred and one third will be victorious
16) The Mahdi forces will then move North to invade Turkey and conquer Constantinople and then re-group again in Syria
17) Another battle will occur between the West and the muslims around Syria/Palestine which the Prophet PBUH described by saying that its ferocity will have been unheard of till then. It will last 4 days and out of 100 men , 99 will die. And yet, the muslim forces will again be victorious
18) A segment of the muslim forces will then invade Europe and conquer Rome in punishment for their previous attacks on the Caliphate
19)While the muslim forces are re-grouping in Syria (after the last victory) the Antichrist will take hold in Isfahan, Iran. The Mahdi is prophecied to rule for 7 years and the Antichrist will rise in the last couple of months. The capture of Jerusalem, Constantinople and the rise of the Antichrist will happen within 7 months during the last part of the Imam's 7 year reign. The Antichrist will claim to be the Messiah of the Jews and the return of Christ and Jews and Christians will believe him. He will claim to be God himself
20) The Antichrist will then go around and conquer the world. He will rule for 1 year and a bit
21) The Arabs will be few by this time and they along with other muslims will be holed up in Jerusalem and Damascus. So much death will have occurred by now that women will outnumber men 50:1 as the Prophet PBUH prophecied. They will beseech God for help
22) Jesus the son of Mary will then descend from Heaven during morning prayers in Damascus
23) Jesus will then pursue the Antichrist and kill him outside Jerusalem . The Jews will then be killed for having supported the Antichrist
24) The Imam Mahdi will either die then or acquiesce rulership to Jesus
25) Jesus will then take over the rulership of the world and establish Islam as the only religion. Jesus and the muslims will perform the funeral prayers of the Imam Mahdi
26) The reign of Peace - the Kingdom of God will have been finally established!!
27) Jesus will rule for 40 years and will be married for 19 years and beget children
28) Jesus will die and be buried in Medina next to the Prophet PBUH
29) Then the souls of the believers will be lifted to Heaven
30) The World will descend into chaos due to evil
31) After a short but indeterminate period of time the Day of Judgment will come and as the Prophet PBUH said "The Day of Judgment will come on the worst of people"
32) Then the resurrection of all past deads and their sending to heaven or hell !!

Most interesting, but it seems to have Christ killing His own people, who will have already realized He is indeed the King. The 144,000 , 12k from each of the 12 tribes, will be little Jewish Billy Grahams, untouchable by the enemy, who will spread the word to the Jews.
The upcoming Tribulation will do two things. It will be the time that God goes back to dealing with the knuckle-headed Jews, and it will also be a time when He pours His wrath out upon the evil ones who hardened their hearts against Him and unrepentingly did works of evil.

Christ, by the way, will not die again. He died and came back, thereby beating death and Hell for all who choose life. There'll not be another time God dies.

Hi Byrd...I know old post but just reading what you wrote here about this prophecy DID NOT EXIST BEFORE 1950.....is alot of bull****
It certainly did exist and many other prophecies of his as well.......maybe not on the web site , but in many of the books I have read in Greek...my grandmother who has passed away had books of many that still DO EXIST and dont go telling me that this was all made up!!!
And he does not mention ANY SPECIFIC DATE! of when the Antichrist will appear!!!
As for the many of the peoples appearance....YES,let's say we go back 20 yrs and look at the way society was and look at today's ...we can see that ''Morals'' have gone and that is a FACT not just a statement to OFFEND .........
You know.....people can believe whatever they wish to believe....
helen...........
And ....if I may seem a bit to harsh...well..Sorry!
But people will always say things to try to fit into a MODERN world...
That's it!

does it matter, only the father has the ability to give such heedings, and warnings...

the date is not the issue, the validity of the mans faith in the father and not power brokering is the issue...

Nice find Simon, I have to say it reads like something from the end of times in the bible, for some reason it reminds me when I was force to go to church and listen the horrible end of times, (seven day adventist).

I think the people of that time did not really expected the world to last past the 20 century.

Excusing the above poster ..ahem... but the links are very very interesting indeed.

Bumping this as first posted by the God of Conspiracy and wondering if a year on anyone can see any further similarities with the Christian teachings... I find this sinteresting from the point of view of prophecy but also as it ultimately shows that at its heart Islam is a religeon that accepts and even bows before Jesus...that there is great common ground on the teachings and beliefs of the last days, and its players.

Soo much common ground, so similair why oh why are they at war?
