Severe lightning storm in Providence

PROVIDENCE -- Fire engulfed a handing area at the Port of Providence Tuesday night, sending large plumes of smoke and fireballs into the air.

Providence Mayor David Cicilline told NBC 10 News that it appears lightning sparked the fire, but it was unclear whether the lightning struck a tanker or the dock area while the ship was unloading gasoline.

Just heard about it from a friend ironically. I've always like thunderstorms myself,but this has got to suck for whoever's ship that was.You always forget these kind of things can happen untill it blows up in your face..literally.

There was a dude here in Bournemouth last week, who was attending some sort of party. he and his friends were wearing armor, and he carried a pike with him. Last saturday, we had a severe thunderstorm, and lightning struck the guy's pike and killed him. His two friends were injured.

Seems alot of lightning related accidents and such lately. maybe due to increased lightning?
