Are the Hizbollah firing Katyusha rockets at Haifa? So says the media.
But have a look at the range of these rockets. It is nowhere even close to reaching the Israeli city of Haifa.

But then the media has shown damaged buildings there, hit by Hizbollah's Katyusha rockets!

If Haifa is out of range, then who's firing these missiles and from where? Are these Katyushas or are they some other weapon the Hizbs are firing?

Any info on this? OR is this some conspiracy by Israel and the US/UK? (Though it's pretty far fetched to presume that they are doing it themselves in order to have an excuse to enlarge the conflict by blaming the Hizbs for these attacks?)

This is beyond bizarre!!

Highly doubtful when you have Hezbollah claiming for these rocket attacks. Should remember that Palestinian terrorist groups don't just have the rockets like the Katyusha, they also have the Qassam rockets. And they always improved them to hit farther inward against Israel. If I was a leader of the Palestinian group like Hezbollah, I also be improving the rockets and launching them.

This is the source right?

Its in their interests to suggest "another" country did it.

Actually looking at it further, they are suggesting something else completely.

The Katyusha Rocket "Multiple Rocket Launcher" BM-21 pictured here could be easily taken apart and smuggled into a "demilitarized" Palestinian state. Individual Katyushas can be launched from a pipe using just a car battery.

The rockets on this truck have a range of 12.7 miles / 20.4 km. Katyushas can easily carry chemical warheads. One full salvo of rockets from this truck would fire the explosive equivalent to four Iraqi-type Scud missiles, which were launched into Israel during the 1991 Gulf War. No apartment in Tel Aviv would be safe

An interesting article by Patrick Devenny gives other possibilities although extended range modified Katyusha types seem most likely.

As this appears to have been written before the lastest festivities kicked off it does offer some interesting insights...

A better option would be a preemptive Israeli ground incursion into southern Lebanon negating the ability of the group to fire mass numbers of Katyushas into Israel proper. The Fajr missiles could still deploy, but their range umbrella would be limited by the ongoing operation. The greatest benefit of a rapid Israeli ground offensive would be the destabilization effect it would create with regard to Hezbollah operations. Their orderly positioning scheme would be disrupted as would their ability to travel freely the roads of southern Lebanon. Such an Israeli effort would rely on speed in order to punch through Hezbollah defenses and engage the rocket launchers. Hezbollah, wary of a future Israeli incursion, has laid minefields and constructed artillery positions.[14] These preparations will do little to stop an Israeli offensive but would buy the organization time to retreat.
