Each federal charge of using explosives carries a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison, while discharging a firearm in a violent crime carries a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life, authorities said.

Forest also was charged in March with filing a false report with Weston police claiming that five masked men in a van stopped by his house and fired a gun at him.

This is an interesting story. The guy is having the kitchen sink thrown at him (he's looking at life), and for what? What's up with those discharging a weapon in connection with a crime charges - the circumstances leading to that charge are not easily ascertainable, did he shoot at investigators? Have they connected the bombs to him in any way - were there bomb-making materials at his residence? Have they verified that the report he made about the men firing at him was false? If yes, then how?

The article mentions additional high-powered weapons were confiscated from him, what were those? Bombs?

His condition has rapidly deteriorated, he's probably in no condition to speak to the press even if someone decided to run a story that didn't reinforce the official line. I doubt 20 years in prison will do much to help the situation.

It's not at all inconceivable that this guy was a bomb nut, but I think it might behoove people to examine other possibilities.
