Iran offers to share nuclear tech with other countries

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran threatened Tuesday to begin hiding its nuclear program from the United Nations -- while its supreme leader said Tehran was ready to transfer its nuclear technology to other countries.

"Military action against Iran will not end our program," Larijani said at a conference on the energy program. "If you take harsh measures, we will hide this program. If you use the language of force, you should not expect us to act transparently."

And you gotta love those illiterates at CNN.

The United States has not threatened military action and has said it is pursuing diplomatic options. But U.S. President George W. Bush has said all options, including military force, remain on the table.

Ok, so they haven't threatened Iran, but they also haven't NOT threatened them. Haha!

"Iran's nuclear capability is one example of various scientific capabilities in the country. ... The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to transfer the experience, knowledge and technology of its scientists," Khamenei told al-Bashir.

Al-Bashir said last month that his impoverished, war-torn country was considering trying to create a nuclear program to generate electrical power.

The offer drew a quick response from Rice after she reached the Turkish capital from Athens. She said the United States and all those worried about Iran's program "have to be concerned when there are statements from Iran that Iran would not only have this technology, but would share it, share technology and expertise."

"That's one of the fears, that there would be that kind of escape, if you will, of technology and expertise," Rice said.

Such a transfer of technology would be legal as long as it is between signatory-states to the nonproliferation treaty, and as long as the IAEA was informed.

Of course, no chance that the Pakistanis or the Indians would ever even THINK of sharing their secrets, right? They're our friends!

This is a serious threat and development they clearly want a conflict with the US and pretty soon the US is going to have to make it`s mind up the oil price continues to rise if they do attack it`s going to have to be a full blown invasion only that way can they secure the oil and possibly the nuclear technology.

Actually, it's not. Iran can do whatever the heck it wants to and it doesn't have to check with the US to see if it's okay first. They can sell nuclear technology to any country they want to, for any price.

And if the US didn't think it would lose a war with Iran, they would have already invaded. They're a bit chicken after the fiasco in Iraq.

I can see Iran as the crazy car dealer for nuclear weapons. This is a parody so don't get your knickers in a bunch.

Sell them to whomever they want? If that is allowed, we are all in trouble. It doesn't take a psychic to see what is coming around the bend. We will all be a figment of our own imagination.

The US hasnt openly made a military threat to Iran. The option is on the table, but Ive been hearing a lot of diplomatic talk throughout this circus. I personally fell very strongly that diplomacy wont work. I guess everyone neglects to realize that it is Europe who is the lead in negotiations here, though I see it being handed to Russia next. I cant decide if thats a good or bad thing. As a signatory of the NPT, Iran is obligated to be transparent toward the IAEA with its programs, and has not done so. But they just want nukes for defense, its not our problem.
