Apologies if this has been on ATS before but found a very an interesting article:

Basically viewers of the main US networks (and Fox, CNN in particular) are loads more likely to believe falsehoods to be facts where 9/11, Iraq etc are concerned.

Those few thinking souls in the US who actually read the newspapers or use the PBS/NPR services have a much more realistic view of the reality of the situation.

It's a long and academic report but worth reading as it confirms what many ATS'ers know - the US networks lie and recruit saps for Bush's crusades

This extract gives just a flavour of the findings

The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news.
Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.
Those who receive most of their news from NPR or PBS are less likely to have misperceptions.

The misperceptions cited are that there were WMD's in Iraq, Iraq was involved in 9/11 and that World opinion was in favour of the Iraq crusade.

Summary / implications for the Iran situation:
Never trust a US Network viewer to have any valid grasp of the situation or understanding of whether invasion / killing is justified

My wife is a journalist. She gets her news off the net.

The mainstream media's about two weeks behind, usually.
