End times.

When revelations was written, why didn't God use/show the current names of citieslocations when showing John the end times? If the bible was written to teach, shouldn;t they have use the name of locations we would surely know in todays times? It would make more sense rather than I trying to figure things out. Wouldn't he have wanted easy thing to be easy and laid out?
