PHOENIX - Gov. Janet Napolitano on Wednesday ordered more National Guardsmen posted at the Mexican border to help stop illegal immigrants and curb related crimes.

National Guard troops have worked at the border since 1988, but Napolitano signed an order authorizing commanders to station an unspecified number of additional soldiers there to help federal agents.

Once the funding is approved, the troops will monitor crossing points, assist with cargo inspection and operate surveillance cameras, according to the order.

"They are not there to militarize the border," the governor said. "We are not at war with Mexico."

It may not be much, not even significant to change much. However the Mexican govt. would see it as a threat to the illegal immigrants which are mostly Mexicans and they have a duty to protect them. Who knows what this move might do. The Mexican govt may respond in kind to put their own troops at the border. Of course its already been done. Drug smuggling.

They will complain stenuously and then they will post their own military at the border to "assist" the illegal immigrants in a more obvious fashion than they are doing presently.
There was a news article a few weeks ago that I posted that noted that Mexico's number 2 source of money is from the flow of money sent back to Mexico from both the legal as well as illegal immigrants in the US.
You do not think that Mexico would just sit back and not protect their golden calf?

The answer is simple, let the illegals cross the border into the US and then one warning-a bullet bye the ear, the nest one in the head.

After a few thousand are killed, it will stem the flow a lot.

If mexico doesn't like it it should keep it's boarder with the US solid, or we can.

If the mexican tropps do anything, we can let the US army deal with them-call it weekend practice.

I am so sick of some people worring about those illegals, if they would not ILLEGALLY sneak into the US, it would not be an issue.

The Govonor declared a state of emergency. Has anyone ever declared that and NOT activated the Guard?

This is a political tactic because she won't say how many will go and the Guard itself stated that they have no plans to go anywhere or do anything different.

War with Mexico? Over what? Are they going to cross our border? They are not insane.

Mexico has no right to complain they do they same exact thing on their southern border if not to a way worse extent. There have been Mexican military personal stationed on Mexico's southern border for a long time and trust me you aint sneaking across that border unless you throw some money at the border guards.
