US says N Korea 'criminal regime' (moved from ATSNN)

Today, the US ambassador to South Korea has blasted the government of North Korea as a "criminal regime", accusing it of taking part in illegal arms sales, drug trafficking and currency forgery. This latest comment is on the back of North Korean threats to walk out of disarmament talks over it's nuclear programme.



Although this is breaking news, it is hardly surprising. The US Government has been harshly critical of the North Korean regime for some time, but this does, however, seem like a bit of a step up in the level of accusations.

It does make one wonder if the US is commited to a diplomatic resolution though, after all, labelling the other side of the table as criminals and drug dealers is a sure fire way of making them walk out, don't you think?

I think we should just wait and see what response, if any, comes out of PyongYang

Wow, this one's quiet...Would have expected some liveley debate in her.

Can't say it's shocking news, but possibly the strongest language used against North Korea for a while.

Could this be the latest war of words with Pyong Yang? Tired of the Nuke debate, so we'll change it to drugs and guns? Makes them look like nothing more than common thugs then.

My mother always used to talk about glass houses and people throwing stones. The US administration is guilty at some time or another of doing exactly what they have accused the North Koreans of.
