Ok, I'm new and don't know how to reply without quoting someone. I tried to delete the above quote but my phone wouldn't let me, so I'll just go ahead with my story.

At the time a Katrina, I was living about an hour and a half away from New Orleans.
When our power was restored all we did was watch news coverage of the event.
My husband was a member of the volunteer fire department of the town where we lived. Everyone has a boat where we're from, and the guys got together after watching some news reports and seeing there were still people stuck on their roof. They all decided to take their boats and go help.
They left out early the next morning only to be turned around when they got to the bridge. There were police there (or some sort of armed guards that told them they weren't allowed in.
I just don't understand how they could turn people away when there were still people dying on roofs.
