Just read this today on FoxNews'
Out There column. I thought it was rather interesting
and figured I'd share it.
A killer whale at Marineland in Niagara Falls learned a new technique to capture seagulls to eat. It would spit out regurgitated fish onto the surface
of the water. As a hungry gull would come down and grab a bite, the whale would come from below and snag the little bugger.
Crafty whale, but that's not the really cool and interesting part. After about 6 months of doing this, the whale's half brother (younger, probably
looked up to his older, clever brother) started to adopt the hunting technique. Today, 5 of the whales are now hunting seagulls the same way and have
integrated fowl into their diets. It's almost as if the original whale taught the others to catch gulls!
