Americans living or traveling in Saudi Arabia have been warned that the embassy in Riyadh and consulate generals in Jiddah and Dhahran will be closed
Monday 8/8 and Tuesday 8/9. Embassy personel must restrict travel and American citizens in the Kingdom are advised to limit their travel and be
vigiliant as well. The move comes in response to threats against US government buildings in that country. No other details on the nature of the threat
are available at this time. This is the second alert in Saudi in as many weeks, and the State Department is taking no chances.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - The U.S. Embassy and consulates in Saudi Arabia will close Monday and Tuesday because of a threat against U.S. government
buildings, the embassy said Sunday.
In a statement, the embassy said mission personnel will limit nonofficial travel during the next two days and urged Americans to keep "a high level of
vigilance." The statement did not elaborate on the nature of the threat.
"The American Embassy in Riyadh advises all American citizens living in Saudi Arabia that, in response to a threat against U.S. government buildings
in the kingdom, the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh and the U.S. consulate generals in Jiddah and Dhahran will be closed on Aug. 8 and 9," the statement
said.

One can hardly help wondering what's got the State Department spooked here. Is this an over-reaction to the now infamous "chatter", which to most
people no longer seems any more significant than a 'check engine' light in their car? Is there really something to worry about, do they have a
credible threat which is causing them to shut down the faciliites that American citizens abroad depend upon for their link to home? In my humble
opinion, it seems like we're ducking and covering on a regular basis, usually with nothing happening. It raises a lot of questions in my mind about
what exactly is going on in the intelligence community.
