Films on future technology.

Right what i'd like to see is a list of good films you know that involve future technology for example give me the title and short discription:-

Teminator films - the future of robots and skynet that want to take over the world.

A.I (artificial intelligence) - About a future A.I robot that looks like a human boy.

I.robot - More about the future of robots that want to take over.

Can you think of any more? Easy really.

But the question is alot of things predicted in these futuristic films has come to fruit, can you think of anything in these films that has come to fruit?

Something like the star Trek films - Most of the technology stated there is more or less theoretically possible.

The Matrix - The use of a virtual enviroment to enslave mankind

the whole star wars series
shows how we will use robots to battle and do stuff for us.

My favourite future technolog movie is Paycheck, amazing film.

This is not dismay or denial of ignorance, but it is a gentle reminder about the creative talent of originators called "authors" who are not filmmakers at all.

Most of the 'futuristic" films you will find in the science fiction or fantasy genre are based on BOOKS. The paper things that replaced parchment that replaced papyrus that replaced slate.

Arthur C Clarke, Isaac Asimove, Phillip K Dick will account for a lot of the above.

But on the subject of books themselves, Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 - about the combustion temperature of books and the replacement of books with "wall screens" for entertainment and the specialist job of "firemen" in the book banning era - made a good 1960s film too. Before Michael Moore adapted the title for his work of sword and sorcery...

Dumbing down has happened in the countries where commodity fetishism and mass merchandising and overt branding are the new religions. The application of media that are alternative to books has had a lot to do with that, as much as destruction of the value of the educational system has.

definitely star trek and star wars. those 2, more than others, showed technology way ahead of our time. some of which are being used today. like when r2d2 showed a recording of a hologram of princess leia. they have now made that in japan. the "beam up scotty" on star trek was way before the cellphone era. there was a lot more on that show but i can't remember right now. old comics like flash gordon showed us the camera/phone watch. dr. who was another "star trek" typa series from england. bladerunner, 6th day, total recall, gattaca, demolition man, judge dredd, matrix, robocop, the abyss, solaris, battle star galatica, universal soldier, james bond etc. to name a few.

Star Trek- Specifically the photon drive (or was it?) We used that in a satellite recently.

another good movie.... not well known was Equilibrium with Christian Bale

It didnt have much in the way of future technology but it did portray a facist society where people were drugged into not feeling emotions.

was very similar to the matrix

Fritz Langs 1927 classic "Metropolis"
Alexander Korda's "Things to come" made in the 1930's

I'm not sure the title of the series, but one day I caught ahold of a marathon of this show from the 60's about "tomorrow." It showed that based on our current level of advancement, by 1980, fully automated homes would be standard and that in the 1990's non-gasoline-based flying cars would become widespread. Twas fascinating.

In the beginning of Starship Troopers (while on Earth) it portrayed an interesting culture that seemed to reflect the trend of overpopulation. It was a very competitive and McDonaldized world.

Minority Report with Tom Cruise is a pretty good one.The main theme it self doesn't seem to be to realistic but the computer interface they use is looking like it has some real world possibility.
