I had to write these for english class, and they turned out pretty good.

Truthseeker

The truth is out
There somewhere
Protected by liars
Spreading disinformation
Keeping us in the dark
Hard evidence exists
Locked up in a vault
Underground
At their stronghold
In the middle of nowhere
Or perhaps
Right in front of our noses

Downtime

Board down
Bored up
Waiting for info
Longing for news
Craving for truth
Hunger for
The daily dose
Of controlled insanity

404’d

An exhaustive search in vain
Leaves my mind in anger
So close to what I looked for
Fists pound on the
Instrument of knowledge
Feet stamp the ground
Palm slaps the head
Head bangs the screen
Of information

Simple

The trigger lay in its innocence
Crimson death lay in silence
Of the afternoon sun beating
Throguh the thin curtains of
The office of the giants
Its simplicity perplexes many
“How can a simple device
Cause such pain
Cause such death
Cause such destruction”
And they say in return
“We don’t know how it works
This is our end of the power
It is our command
But not our control”

Staring Down Infinity

Darkness of the gulf
Across it lay in shining
Brilliance lays the unknown
Into its void we plunge for answers
To the greatest questions
Mankind has ever pondered
And yet
As I see it
We are not in it alone

Improbable

They said it could never happen
“It is impossible”
Yet it came
I say
“With God anything is possible
Everything is just improbable”
They say
“But God doesn’t throw dice”
But as it seems
The probability they are wrong
Is very high

Indecision

As I lie awake contemplating
Their proposal I think of what
I will give up in either condition
I can give up everything
I have ever known
Or everything I do not
The improbable opportunity
Its looming deadline approaches
I can leave everything I love behind
Retain its knowledge and enter
The unfamiliar or stay with
What I cherish but live with
The guilt of giving up the
Chance to see it all
But it is too late
My path is set
And as I depart
I look back on the world
I knew all my life
And stare ahead at the unknown

Ignored

Don’t ignore me
Ignorance is a dark cloud
A foggy haze over reality
Ignorance is the crap that
Keeps us under THEIR control
“In the country of the blind
The one eyed man rules”
Open your eyes to the truth
Don’t be blind
At least be alert

Afterthought

In the depths of the
Human mind lays a power
We wish to suppress

The End of Days

As doom seems near
Many will lose hope
Liars will come forth
And deceive you
Nations will fall
Buildings will crumple
Flesh will burn
But those
Who still have hope
Who still believe
Will not perish

Eyes of Stone

These eyes have seen it all
War and peace
Love and hate
Life and death
Eternal perception
Constant remembrance
My eyes have seen history unfold

The World as It Is

Death and violence
This is our world
We live in the time of
The looming Crusade
Nation against rebels
Religion against religion
Neighbor against neighbor
In a world of bloodshed
Will we ever see peace and
Unity under truth
Or an iron fist dictatorship
The New World Order
THEIR oppressive rule
Has been their goal
Will be forever

Nightfall

Darkening hues of the
Burning air turns to orange
In the sun’s final battle with night
Dusk comes in a green flash of
Glory as it triumphs over light
It crowns the moon for it’s short
Reign over the world’s sky
The king’s bight and distant
Subjects show their splendor
And unknown mystery
The twilight lingers until the
Darkness covers the land

New Discovery

As I stand on the world unknown
As the moons and suns rage their
Celestial battle for dominance
Over the sky
As the strange world thrives
And grows around me
I realize that I am privileged
To see such wonders as these

Giant’s Last Stand

The giants who stalk me
And threaten me are
Not meeting their doom today
They have tormented me
It is not my turn to deal
The anguish and pain
It is my turn to stop it
Stop it outright without
Getting down to their level

Shell of a Former Person

The person is gone but body remains
Lifeless and controlled
The unperson lives an unhappy life
With unhappy friends and unhappy family
All of the same master
They cast out those
Who have no master and live
Their own life
The shell leaves all others
In their shadow
Denying them attention
A fair chance
They think nothing of those who are different
As they have no mind
The shells begin to become identical
The shell may have once been free
They wouldn’t know
But the shells were coerced into
The liar's grasp
Like flies to a lantern
The shells roam together
Like a flock of birds
Gathering new members by
Helping master's lies reach out
Promising freedom to those who
Already have it
But don't know it
Life unrewarding
They die without their own thoughts
Ever expressed due to suppression

I really liked this one:

Thanks. I think that Indecision and Staring Down Infinity are the two best ones there.
