Akin to the grease trap theory in why places like Florida, South Texas and California seem to wind up with large proportion of nutters

Head to these places because it warm , no snow, unfortunately once there are trapped because either oceans or foreign territory (Mexico)

As an Alaskan, thank you so much for spreading myths regarding Alaska. A person in New Jersey reading an article online is most certainly an expert on all things Alaska I'm sure. Is New Jersey as bad as comedians make it out to be?

Are you just poking fun or do you really not comprehend how the basis of that article is click-bait garbage. I find the Flat-Earthers to be a form of comedic entertainment and I'm no doubt one of the people who made searches. I look at nutty stuff when I'm bored.

I think you could more correctly say that a lot of people in Alaska get bored and search for nutty stuff like the Flat-Earth silliness for entertainment.

It takes a high-paying job to afford to live here, so no, losers don't come up here. A few who want to live off the land maybe, but most of them fail and go back down south. The ones who succeed arrive with enough money to do so, so they are not people who fail. They have a skill that allows them to live that way and money to get started.

Oddly enough some in the Lower 48 still think Alaska is backward. Anchorage is a modern city with all the amenities any city in the Lower 48 has. Our International airport is a huge cargo hub and our small plane airport is the busiest in the world. More people here per capita own planes than in any other State I'm sure. Why? Because it's needed here and people can afford it.

People do come here to escape, but not because they are failures. They come here because they have the skills to earn what they need to live here and because well, it's a lot better here than in many parts of the country.

Flat out, I have entertained the flat earth argument simply because these last few years, more and more have brought the matter up. For those lacking in comprehension, I stated that I entertained the argument. I did not state that I subscribed to the notion of a flat earth.

The flat out truth, where I'm concerned is that we have been lied to and programmed via our education system, to say nothing of media, on myriad topics and points of history that are widely accepted as fact. Directly and systematically. I trust NOTHING anymore. I no longer mock, laugh at or sneer at ANYBODY that entertains discussion and research BEYOND mainstream acceptance, unlike a few who previously posted.

I lived in Alaska for about 5 years and met several people who either were full on flat earthers or entertained the notion. Their arguments in favor of flat earth were hilarious and they never continued the debate after I'd inevitably ask them how they could explain gravity through magnetism when gravity interacts equally on objects that were both magnetic and non magnetic.

I've heard they're now trying to explain it via buoyancy. I find that one especially hilarious, along with the "personal domes". Always a good laugh with flat earthers.

We all love flat earth theories.
But there is something problematic in the description because it's based on the number of Google searches which doesn't necessarily mean these people believe earth is flat.
