Quake Shakes Japan (moved from ATSNN)

Several moderate earthquakes have shook Japan but there are currently no danger of tsunami seismic waves occurring, according to the meteorological agency.

The quake measured 4.3 on the Richter scaled and his northeastern Japan at 5:41. It was then followed by a 3.7 tremor nine minutes later.




It seems that earthquakes are hitting Eastern Asia every week. May this possibly be small aftershocks from the previous bigger quakes? Hopefully casualties will be kept to a total minimum and aid will be sent immediately if needed.

The Japanese have transformed Earthquake Damage Mitigation into an artform. There's no nation better prepared, better staffed, better funded. They never ask for help because they simply don't need it.

I mean, think about it..if you lived in a neighborhood where every month a rabid jumbo pelican steals a baby, you'd install a rabid pelican defense system, right?

Japanese disaster relief and search and rescue teams are right up there in the top five of the world, along with Canadian, Swiss, American and German.

They also have the best earthquake resistant/proof buildings on the planet, and the quickest response times of any nation (last I knew). So, in the end, they'll be fine.

Have faith in the power of the tiny island chain.

Could be an aftershock although there are 1000's of earthquakes of this magnitude every year anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few more larger earthquakes some time in the near future.
