Xe Variant - The China Virus Reloaded

I'm confused. We now have a Xe variant of the Corona/Covid-19 virus. How did that happen? Remember when some people would call it the China virus and that was deemed inappropriate? Then we switched to the Greek alphabet. Delta variant, omicron variant... We actually skipped some Greek letters to avoid calling it the Xi variant because, uhm, captain obvious - something - Chinese president. Fair enough. But now Xe variant...

Xe is not a Greek letter - it's the chemical symbol for Xenon, a noble gas.

Xi is a Greek letter and also the name of the Chinese president.


Something doesn't add up here!


Here is what I think happened: when we skipped Xi and went to Omicron there still was "harmony". Then Vladimir Vladimirovich did Z thing and there was dissonance. Xi was asked in no uncertain terms by The West to add his voice to the heavenly choir of anti-Russian sanctions but politely declined. So some brilliant mind came up with calling the new Rona variant - wait for it - Xe. Wow! That's like calling it the Cina virus. It's like really, really obvious but they can't blame you because you did a little thing with one letter.

Bonus consideration: Blackwater first changed their name to Xe in 2009 before changing it again to Academi in 2011. That in turn conjures up the picture of Wagner group and that is probably not by accident.
