Mystery of lava-like flows on Mars solved by scientists

As the title says, "Mystery of lava-like flows on Mars solved by scientists" they may have gotten this correct. They found out that by going to -20 C and reducing the atmospheric pressure in their Martian simulator down to a reasonable 7mbar mars mud looks much like certain lava flows in Hawaii.

Their is a short video at the link showing the experiment which seems to agree with Mars observations.

I think it was last year we had several threads about the vast water oceans of Mars buried beneath the surface of Mars which could make much of this all possible...Watch the video if as it explains and shows it all.

Under Martian conditions, the experimental mud flows formed similar shapes to "pahoehoe" lava frequently occurring on Hawaii or Iceland on Earth, which cools down to form smooth undulating surfaces. In the experiment, this happened when liquid mud spilled from ruptures in the frozen crust, then refroze.

I suppose this is another of those cases of "normal" being different just because some apparently small things being different on Mars.

Wait a few years and something will happen on Mars that will cause scientists to say "We don't know how that happened, it was not supposed to, as per our models"
