I highly enjoyed this letter...

Dear Condi,
I'm glad you've decided to get over your fit of pique and venture north to visit your closest neighbour. It's a chance to learn a thing or two. Maybe more.

I know it seems improbable to your divinely guided master in the White House that mere mortals might disagree with participating in a missile-defence system that has failed in its last three tests, even though the tests themselves were carefully rigged to show results.

But, gosh, we folks above the 49th parallel are somewhat cautious types who can't quite see laying down billions of dollars in a three-dud poker game.

What I like about this is the way it answers accusations that we're not team players, that we're letting the U.S. foot the bill and defend North America, and so on... sure, the tone is cynical, but Ambassador Celucci has been pretty close to being out of line these last days.

Basically, it shows that a situation doesn't always look quite the same depending if you're looking from north or south of the border. A lot of Canadians feel their country has shown its good faith by sending troops to Afghanistan, supporting the U.S. in changes to NORAD, etc. But of course, these initiatives are small compared to the means the U.S. has, so often they get overlooked, and some Americans get the idea that Canada isn't doing anything. The perception is understandable, but not quite true.

I think Canadians are right here. Why pay for something that is pointless.
Personally, I think we should force all the Kerry supporters north to further screw up your pathetic socialist system and resolve. Then a bunch of rednecks like me can come up there, kick tail and take your oil and gas. We probably would not have to kill a soul. We would let all those French retreating do that for us. Then we can dance with the devil in the pale moon light.

Wouldn't work, public opinion wouldn't allow it and remember Canada has more friends than the US. Nukes? Canada has nuclear technology, we just choose not to use it militarily. (The CANDU reactors we gave to India made them a nuclear power)

Remember the last time Americans tried to invade Canada and Canada pushed them back past the 49th parallel and burnt down the White House? Canada is the only country that has ever beaten the US on American soil and just to let you know Canada's will to fight is not non-existant. We raised an army of 1.1 million in WWII with a population of only 11.5 million people. We have advanced technology that as on-par with the US. And the will to fight and defend ones country is greater than the will to fight to invade someone elses home.
