Rolls-Royce revealed today that the TEN version of the Trent 1000 engine won't be fixed until the first half of 2021. They're developing a new HPT
blade to increase durability, but found that the new blade wouldn't see a big enough improvement over the current blade.
Nine problems were identified in the Trent 1000 Package B, C, and TEN engines, causing significant disruption to airlines using them. Eight of the
nine issues have fixes designed, with 7 certified. The problems so far have cost Rolls in excess of $3.1B.
