And again a new timeline of the Mars Exploration Rover mission, beginning with 2003. Good luck, Opportunity! We want to hear from you, soon!

MER Timeline

An updated graphic of the timeline of the MER's was posted yesterday on UMSF and Pinterest. Not sure where it came from but if it is on UMSF it is not fake news.

It is an interesting graphic and shows that the time span to listen for a signal from MER Opportunity has been extended. Lets hope for a wind cleaning event or two that can clean Oppy's solar panels up and the tough little rover phones home.

The windy season for that part of Mars will be over soon and then most hope is lost

Opportunity had the longevity but Spirit provided the excitement , so many great anomalies.

I think Opportunity has joined her sister.

Spirit was great and the way she went out was even exciting, she did't just fade into the darkness. It doesn't look good but I am not giving up on Oppy yet.

Since China has landed on the far side of the moon we can expect that either a new Space Race will begin or China and their planned Manned Mission will either become a joint effort with the US or they will start to have malfunctions making it not possible to get man to the moon.
