In the avionics shop, it was the going joke to toss the new guy a loaded capacitor only to have him catch it, then discharge it with his fingers. Probably a little mean, but since it happened to almost everyone, it seemed fair at the time. And funny, damn funny.

But energy is free and abundantly available everywhere, it’s extracting it that costs money. We just need to find the most efficient means of doing so.

Are you being obtuse? It isn't about cost. Its about the concept of "free" energy in the sense that energy can be created and applied using "free energy" devices or generators without the need for input power or adherence to Ohm's Law or Kirchoff's voltage and current laws.

I was just being matter of fact, but now I realize what you're referring to, as in extra energy from nowhere, well of course that is bogus. I was thinking in terms of different ways of extracting energy and the relavent costs.

Energy pops in and out of existence all the time at the quantum level.

Harnessing that energy through, in any kind of meaningful manner, remains beyond our ability, which will probably always be the case.
