You might as well ask someone to explain how life began in the universe.

Legand have it though that the acient ones may know but the knowledge of karma, wats, stars and flags is long lost

This post explains it.
Flags: how many people flag threads you start.
Stars: How many stars you get on all of your posts.
Karma: ((stars * 15) + (flags + applause) * 10)) / posts
WATS: (number of posts ÷ 600) + (number of flags ÷ 80) + (number of stars ÷ 170)

Not sure if that's still how it works though.

Just dropped in because I thought it was "bored" questions.

ETA: There's an imbalance though. Those here before a certain date have their stats inflated for some reason.

Given some of the data is inaccurate (corrupt) then these derived stats are meaningless in at least some cases.

My understanding was it required a certain sequence of action(s) with a post during a time period in the past to cause the data to be corrupted.

The only accurate ones are post count and flags.

Karma: ((stars * 15) + (flags + applause) * 10)) / posts
WATS: (number of posts ÷ 600) + (number of flags ÷ 80) + (number of stars ÷ 170)

You may want to notice this difference;
WATS accumulates indefinitely.
Karma is liable to go down again, if you post a lot without receiving stars. Everybody starts with a karma of 20. If they don't get any stars, their karma is 10 after the second post, 2 after the tenth post, and 1 after the twentieth post.
