Turning 50?
I'm 53 now, but it seems like since I turned that magic number, I am inundated daily with junk mail ads for :
AARP
Diabetes
Viagra
"Final Expenses"
Hearing Aids.

It's like they think every man just starts falling apart at 50 and they're saying "Hey, we know, it happens and there's not a lot you can do, but at least you'll die with an erection and you'll be able to hear the scream of your partner as you clutch your chest in those last moments... but at least she won't have to worry about burial expenses!"

Amirite?.....or am I just getting old?

I'm 49 and at this point, rather large parts are falling off on a daily basis. Had I know I would make it this far, I'd have planned better.

Yeah but in our 20's and 30's we felt like your avvy. Indestructible.

Yup, 50 is the magic number for AARP. They know who you are and are just waiting for you. Wait until you near 70 and they start sending you "Time waits for no one" pamphlets from the cemetery.

which is why I'm falling apart now.

Even the duct tape is having a hard time keeping up.

Just thank Google and move on. They are the ones doing all the data mining that invokes spamming.

It gets progressively worse the older you get. Wait....Blue Cross will want you to send your poop in the mail once you get over retirement age. I refuse to torture the people in the post office.

Don't forget about shingles.

The new vaccine is called Shingrix (yup, I didn't name the bloody thing). It is administered in 2 doses 6 months apart. It is something like 92% effective versus the other one which was anywhere between 42% and 56%.

I had a flare up in the beginning of March. It is really a pain like you have no need to ever feel if you can avoid it! I get a bug bite, or scratch my leg, and I now pause. Never used to be that way. One good has come from going through all this, I no longer touch my eyes with my fingers!

Spend the money (med. insurance covers all but the deductible), avoid the pain.

Mine hit right at 51. Which is odd they have an age pinpointed (tin foil hat secured).

Sooo, looking forward to it.

I'm not even 45 and my left knee is already reminding me about those hurdles I ran it into in college.

After a long stay in a hospital, I began receiving cremation service advertisements that looked similar to greeting cards when they arrived in the mail. After 7 or 8 years of receiving them every other month I called them and asked them to please save the paper and stop sending them. I'll be 50 in January, actually, I never thought I'd see 30 so I appreciate what's left of my leaking bag of mostly water. Aging/death are big business!
